Dr Alexandra Sisam ND
Naturopathic Medicine is a form of primary medical care that looks at each symptom and illness as a piece of the whole person to uncover how to best facilitate healing. The goal of naturopathic medicine is to uncover the underlying root cause of any illness and dysfunction in order to stimulate the body’s innate ability to heal. Naturopathic Doctors are trained in various therapies that encompass their ability to treat each human being as a whole – including their mind, body and spirit.
Therapies that our Naturopathic Doctor is trained in:
Herbal and Botanical Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Physical Modalities (Cupping and Hydrotherapy)
Just as each person’s illnesses manifest uniquely, each person’s journey to health and the tools that will best support them will also be unique. Naturopaths have the knowledge to explore healing from many different angles in order to best support the patient on their own healing journey. By looking at illness through multiple lenses naturopaths have the ability to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying causes and factors contributing to an illness. This allows them to provide the best possible care to alleviate and support patients through suffering. Naturopathic Doctors are regulated health care professionals with a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Degree (ND). Naturopathic Doctors must complete a 4-year undergraduate university degree followed by a 4-year intensive medical degree at an accredited college. They them must complete their National Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations and their Regulatory Board Examinations in order to practice in the province of Ontario.
